2019 Queensland Yachting Championships

The 2019 Queensland Yachting Championships, incorporating the Queensland IRC Championships, were held at the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron on the 28th and 29th of September in winds ranging from Light Oscillating through to a powerful 20 to 25 knot Northerly; under the supervision of Principal Race Officer John Obrien.

Over 60 participants from 53% of the Queensland Sailing Clubs participated in this years Queensland Clubs Conference making it the biggest conference yet. It was a great weekend full of presentations from industry experts, case studies of success stories shared by fellow clubs and insights and updates on relevant topics from key Australian Sailing Staff.

Discounts on Australian Sailing Courses run in Queensland

Australian Sailing have been able to allocate some money received under a Queensland Government grant to provide discounts for Queensland clubs and members. The offer is strictly limited and will run until the end of 2019 or until the quota has been reached. Perfect Sailing Conditions Conclude the 2018 Etchells Worlds

Seen a lot of water. Been to a lot of places. Today, Brisbane pretty much offered the classic mix of sun, and just enough wind for the last two races of the 2018 Etchells World Championship. I think it is fair to say that it was very much appreciated by all and sundry, whether they were competitors, or part of the large flotilla of spectators who took to Moreton Bay to witness the crowning of a new champion.

Bruce Taylor’s hopes for a first major offshore handicap victory with his 40-footer Chutzpah from Victoria hang in the balance with the perennial Komatsu Azzurro, Shane Kearns’ two-time Noakes Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race overall winner sliding north and meeting its required average speed target with 60 nautical miles to go, as of 0900 hours on Tuesday July 31, 2018.
