Think we need more females in sailing? We sure DO!

Published Fri 30 Nov 2018

It is the hottest topic in town right now and the She Sails Network Group in Queensland is looking for more members.

We have a great bunch of women involved already so why not talk to your Club Committee about getting involved and join us to help make the opportunity real for more women and girls to get into sailing. We don’t discriminate, so if you’re a male and want to be a champion of women and girls in sailing we’d love to have you as part of our network.

As a group, we collaborate on ideas to help women and girls to get involved in our sport through one of our Queensland Clubs. We have had some huge successes over the past year with more women getting qualified as officials and instructors and the introduction of races with female skippers, social evenings, training camps for females and run by females and a better presence on social media.

If you want to have a chat about this great network group and how you can get involved, please give Annie Watson a call on 0409 065 083 or come to our next meeting to see if this is for you. And it doesn’t matter if you are not based in SE Queensland – you can still attend the meetings via teleconference, be part of communication on our facebook group or email us with your ideas that we can discuss at the meetings and we will get back to you with feedback.

Our first meeting for 2019 will be on Tuesday 12th February from 6 pm at the Queensland Australian Sailing office in Manly. For the rest of the year, meetings are held bi-monthly. So it’s not a huge commitment.

Please complete the Nomination Form attached below and return to Annie Watson at annie.watson@sailing.org.au
