Throughout 2023 Australian Sailing is spotlighting specific themes that are integral to the fabric of the sailing community across our nation. This July, Australian Sailing is proud to shine the spotlight on participation at every level and is excited to highlight the tireless work of clubs, class associations and Discover Sailing Centres nation-wide.
Two incident reports have been published by Australian Sailing. The first incident concerns the loss of rudders in the Sydney Hobart Yacht Race and the second, an incident at the 2023 Teakle Classic Lincoln Week Regatta resulting in the death of a person.
The much-anticipated 1,064 nautical mile, Category 1 passage race from Sydney to Noumea returns next year after a six-year hiatus and will start on Sydney Harbour on Saturday, 25 May 2024. The race is organised and conducted by the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia (CYCA), with the co-operation of Race Finishing Partner, Cercle Nautique Calédonien (CNC).
Having received a Queensland Government grant, Australian Sailing Qld offered a package opportunity where, depending on current age and qualifications, young women could attend either an Instructor or Sailing Coach course, as well as a Race Management Day for a discounted price.
Sailing clubs, class associations and Discover Sailing Centres all share a responsibility to keep Children safe from abuse and neglect. There are ample resources to help understand what the responsibilities entail.
