Airlie Beach Race Week prepares as Queensland border opening announced

With the announcement that the Queensland border will open on 10 July to all but Victoria, Whitsunday Sailing Club (WSC) is working hard to make sure that Airlie Beach Race Week Whitsundays Festival of Sailing, to be held from 6-13 August, is a memorable event for all concerned.

MC38s long-awaited return to 2020 season

Winter sailing on Sydney Harbour is often fraught, light winds and plenty of shifting potholes to catch the unsuspecting out. For the MC38s crews who returned to their season after months of COVID isolation, getting the fleet back together and completing the seven-race program was more than enough compensation for the tricky conditions.

Victorian COVID update

Sunday the 21st of June saw key restrictions eased and others continued. Australian Sailing continues to work with the Victorian Government to gain clarity on the interpretation of these restrictions and to put sailing at the fore front of their mind.

Contact Tracing

In line with the South Australian Government requirements Organisations are to ensure that all participants for indoor activities are to provide their name and phone number or email address on a Contact Tracing Form. The person conducting the activity retains a record of those contact details and produces them at the request of an authorised officer.

Save the Date and Expression of Interest – Tasmanian Youth Championships incorporating a Two Day Coaching Clinic

The annual Tasmania Youth Championships typically held at the end of February is moving to new dates. The Tasmania Youth Championships will now include a two-day coaching clinic leading up of the Tas Youth Championships, the dates for the Coaching Clinic are 8 – 9 October 2020 followed by the TAS Youth Championships 10 – 11 October 2020.

Nominations have opened for the prestigious Australian Sailing Hall of Fame

Australian Sailing in collaboration with Australian National Maritime Museum are excited to announce that nominations have opened today for the prestigious Australian Sailing Hall of Fame. The Australian Sailing Hall of Fame, now entering its fourth year, is the only elite sailing institution of its kind in the country. It was established to acknowledge and honour exceptional performance and contribution at the highest level by an individual or a team.

Yachting Tasmania- Notice of General Meeting

Yachting Tasmania has called a General Meeting to be held on 25th July at RYCT. The purpose of the meeting is for Member Clubs to vote on a proposal to Voluntarily Cancel the Registration of the Tasmanian Yachting Association Inc (YTAS). If passed, YTAS will be replaced by a Tasmanian Regional Advisory Committee (RAC), a committee of Australian Sailing.
