Now Open: Women, Girls and Youth Officials' Mentor Program 2026–2027

Published Fri 19 Jun 2026

Australian Sailing has opened Expressions of Interest for the Women, Girls and Youth Officials' Mentor Program for the 2026–2027 season.

The program is part of Australian Sailing's Instructor, Coach and Official Development Strategy, and reflects Focus Area 1 of that strategy — Put People First — which recognises that developing people is central to growing a strong officiating community.

Who Can Apply

The program is open to:

  • Female officials of any age, and

  • Officials of any gender who are 35 or under.

Mentees should have some experience in their chosen discipline — broadly equivalent to a Regional level accreditation, though this is a general guide rather than a strict requirement. If you are unsure whether your experience is a good fit, we encourage you to apply or get in touch.

Mentors will be National or International officials and can be of any age or gender. Mentoring experience is definitely not required – the only requirement is a willingness to help out and improve yourself as a mentor.

What the Program Involves

For Mentees

Accepted mentees will receive:

  • A hand-picked mentor matched to their goals.
  • Six online communities of support, one per month from September through to February, to build connections and community with fellow mentees.
  • A $250 travel credit to support attendance at an event with their mentor during the season.

For Mentors

As well as working with their mentees, mentors will participate in six online development sessions during the program timeframe, facilitated by Ashley Ross (who many will remember from last year’s Officials Workshops).

How to Apply

Expressions of Interest are open now and will close on Sunday, 24 August.

For questions about the program, please contact Michael Arnold, National Officiating and Integrity Lead, by email at michael.arnold@sailing.org.au or by phone on 0431 991 653.
