Safety Month to Highlight Importance of Safe Practice in Sailing

Published Mon 01 Jan 2024

Throughout 2023 Australian Sailing spotlighted specific themes that are integral to the fabric of the sailing community across our nation.

Every second month we have focused on a specific theme that aligns with the Strategic Foundations from our 10-year Strategic Plan ‘SAILING 2032’, with Diversity and Inclusion (March), Volunteers (May), Participation (July), Sustainability (September) and Discover Sailing (November) featured last year.

Kicking off the New Year, Australian Sailing is proud to shine the spotlight on safety in our sport this January.

Across the country’s waterways, the conditions can vary greatly and can change quickly from a calm day to life threatening. Therefore, safety in all its aspects must feature as a high priority, not just for the sport of sailing itself, but for its volunteers, officials, clubs, and classes and their members.

Throughout the month, Australian Sailing will share key resources from our Safety Hub, as well as share some top tips from safety experts within the sailing community.

If you have a safety initiative at your club or class association that you would like to share and potentially see featured on the Australian Sailing social media channels, we would love to hear from you! Please contact us at news@sailing.org.au with a relevant image and short blurb about your project and we will be in touch.

Join us this January as we celebrate and highlight safety within our sport. Ensure you and your club don’t miss any updates by following Australian Sailing on Facebook here.
