About Nedlands Yacht Club
The Nedlands Yacht Club is located on the western foreshore of the Derbal Yerigan/Swan River in the City of Nedlands, Western Australia. The NYC, prides itself on being an affordable, family friendly sailing club with off-the-beach access to the best sailing waters in Perth. Organisationally, the NYC has a small number of full and part itme staff, however many of the duties within the club are run by volunteers. The NYC is an authorised Australian Sailing Sail Training venue and the NYC has a healthy program of Tackers sailing courses run durign the school holidays for primary school students.
NYC has three business units comprising Sailing, Functions and Marketing, and Facilities. Financial management of the club is by the volunteer Treasurer. A core income stream for the club is as a functions venue, with NYC hosting a large number of weddings, parties, and conferences throughout the year. The club has a fully licensed bar and kitchen facility.
The NYC is going through a period of expansion. The club has recently completed a new building from which sail training and regattas and State/Australian/World championships may be held. The NYC is seeking to exploit the new Sail Training Center to increase the number of Youth, State, and Australian sailing events held at NYC. Of equal importance is growth of the functions and marketing business unit to continue to provide the club with income to replace aging equipment, to run the sailing business unit, and to keep membership fees affordable for families.
