The Australian Sailing (AS) National Youth Squad is a national development program supporting youth sailors who demonstrate potential, commitment and a desire to progress within the sport towards high-performance.

The program provides selected sailors with opportunities to develop the habits, mindset and skills required for long-term success through structured national activities, class-specific coaching and sailor development opportunities.

The AS National Youth Squad complements sailors’ existing club and Class Association coaching programs by creating additional opportunities for development, while building a connected national community of sailors, coaches and classes across the Youth Pathway.

The 2027 Australian Sailing National Youth Squad will support sailors competing in the following Classes,  420, 29er, Nacra 15, ILCA 6, ILCA 4, Youth iQFOiL and Formula Kite.

Selection into the AS National Youth Squad will be by invitation from Australian Sailing, in accordance with the published Selection Guidelines. Sailors do not need to submit an application, or Expression of Interest for the AS National Youth Squad. The selection process is based on the class-specific selection events, eligibility requirements and a sailor’s commitment to their ongoing development within the sport.
