Accreditation FAQs
Below are some Frequently Asked Questions regarding Accreditation, Reaccreditation, Recognition of Prior Learning and Annual renewal.

Annual Renewal
Annual renewal is a fee that ensures your credentials remain active and valid, while also granting you a range of benefits.
The Annual Renewal Fee provides you with certain benefits, as well as contributes to further development of program resources for Instructors and Coaches. The benefits to you include:
- Continuous support from Australian Sailing
- Professional development opportunities throughout the year at Training In Focus - Live Events
- Liability insurance for accredited Instructors and Coaches, as well as personal accident insurance.
- Note the insurance for Instructor is only provided if you are delivering an Australian Sailing accredited Course at an Accredited Centre.
- Your Centre will hold Public Liability Insurance as a condition of being accredited with Australian Sailing, but as a current qualified Instructor you are also covered under an Australian Sailing Policy against public liability matters that might arise against you personally, if you are delivering a Course at an accredited Discover Sailing Centre
- Promotion of Instructor/Sailing Coach qualification through the search function available via the Australian Sailing Finder Page.
Each year, an invoice for the annual renewal fee will be sent to the email address listed on your Australian Sailing Profile. Ensure your contact details are up to date to avoid any delays.
To check your details log in to your Profile then click on ‘Profile’ under ‘Membership card’. If you do need to make any changes you need to click on the ‘Save details’ button at the bottom of the page.
To check your annual renewal date, you need to log in to your Australian Sailing profile then select Qualifications > Options > Details. Here is where 'Renews' dates are displayed on accreditations.
'Renews' will be your renewal date. If the date is in the past,this means you should have received a renewal invoice that remains unpaid.
To view invoices, click on 'Payments' which appears under your 'Membership card' tab. If there are no outstanding invoices, please email training@sailing.org.au.
Accreditation
Accreditation is the official recognition by Australian Sailing that you have met all the requirements for a specific role.These requirements may include completing relevant training, assessments, and holding necessary certificates or licences.

Certificate
A certificate is awarded upon completing a course. It confirms that you have met the minimum requirements for the course you have completed and have the necessary knowledge for a specific task or topic.
Accreditation
Accreditation is broader recognition of requirements for a role. It may involve meeting several requirements, such as online certificates, face-to-face training, and assessments, demonstrating your readiness and competency for the role.
Reaccreditation
Reaccreditation is required for certain roles to ensure that skills, knowledge, and best practices remain current and relevant.

Member Account
Login to your Australian Sailing Profile and select 'Profile' to edit details.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) acknowledges your previous experience and qualifications. For example, if you hold an overseas Instructor or Coaching qualification, you may be eligible for RPL.
