How to get Reaccredited

How to get Reaccredited

If you hold a current Australian Sailing Instructor or Coach accreditation which is about to lapse, you may apply for reaccreditation by providing evidence of ongoing practice and learning. This should include evidence of recent instructing or coaching activities, referee details, and any professional development completed in the past 5 years.

For those with multiple program accreditations, you only need to submit one reaccreditation form. Once your reaccreditation is approved, all your Instructor and Coach accreditations will be renewed for five years.

Note: If your accreditation expired more than 12 months ago, or if you can’t demonstrate your currency through recent practice, you may need to complete a practical reaccreditation session. We will contact you if this is required.

Step 1: Check you meet the Reaccreditation requirements

Visit our Qualification Requirements page to select your qualification and review the specific requirements needed for your reaccreditation.

You will find these requirements listed in the 'Requirements for reaccreditation' section.

Step 2: Complete the Reaccreditation Form

Once you have reviewed your Qualification Requirements, you must submit the Reaccreditation Form. Reaccreditation is free of charge.

If you are renewing multiple accreditations, you only need to submit ONE Reaccreditation Form.

Step 3: Await for your Approval

Once you have submitted your Reaccreditation Form, Australian Sailing will review the information you have provided and make a decision.

Upon approval, your accreditations will be extended for five years. If you have multiple accreditations, their expiry dates will be aligned.

Step 4: Staying compliant once reaccredited

Holding an Australian Sailing accreditation qualifies you as an Instructor or Coach, but you must also stay compliant with state/territory laws and the policies of the organisation you deliver programs for.

To remain current, ensure the following certifications are valid:

  • Working with Children Check (WWCC) - or equivalent, based on your state or territory
  • Maritime Licence - if required for your qualification or location
  • Marine Radio Certificate - if applicable
  • First Aid Certificate - HLTAID011 (Provide First Aid) or higher

These requirements help ensure all accredited Instructors and Coaches meet the necessary legal and safety standards when delivering programs.
