Tasmanian Events Calendar

In response to our ever-growing list of Tasmanian Sailing Events, we have created an online calendar for Club Officials to use when planning their future calendar of events. Our overall events policy is to increase participation at already existing events and not overcrowd the calendar with new events.

Another Successful WinterSail in 2021

WinterSail 2021 was a great success, 33 registered entries for the event which was a good number based on the fact we were coming out of a 4th Covid lock down in Melbourne and NSW was going into an extended one making everyone nervous re the event even happening.

2021 WA Club Conference

The 2021 WA Club Conference was held on 17 July and was well supported by many members of our sailing community, with 71 people representing 23 Clubs and Class Associations.

COVID Update - 20th July 2021

Further to my earlier email, due to the escalating COVID-19 situation in South Australia, the SA Government have just announced this morning a Statewide 7 Day lockdown as from 18:00 this evening (20th July). As of tomorrow, schools will also be closed.

World Record Attempt - Dare to join Blair

Lisa Blair is once again heading off to better Fedor Konyukhov’s 2008 solo and unassisted record sail around Antarctica of 102 days 56 minutes. The solo adventurer is due to depart Albany in Western Australia mid-December 2021.

Tasmanian Grants - Improving the Playing Field

Applications for the 2021-22 Improving the Playing Field Program are now open. The $10 million Program provides financial assistance to upgrade amenities at sporting facilities around Tasmania, allowing them to cater for all participants. There is $10 million in funding available under this program in 2021-22. Applicants can apply for funding of between $25 000 and $500 000 per project.

Magnetic Island launches ‘Charm Offensive’ on Race Week entrants

Magnetic Island has turned heads for eons, but since SeaLink Magnetic Island Race Week was added to the northern sailing regattas in 2007, competitors from far and wide have been captivated. James Permezel's Hanse 445 ‘Charm Offensive’, now based in the picturesque Picnic Bay, is set to join Race Week.
