The Western Australian Sailing community gathered at Hillarys Yacht Club on Thursdays 30 September for the 2021 Australian Sailing – Western Australian Awards. The Australian Sailing awards recognises the outstanding contributions and achievements by clubs and individuals in all aspects of the Western Australian Sailing community who administrate, volunteer and compete.

New mooring laws to deliver fairer system on WA waterways

The Western Australian Government's Department of Transport has released an announcement regarding new mooring laws. Reforms to the State’s boating laws will provide a fairer, more equitable system to allocate moorings in sought after areas and prevent individuals from profiting by selling a mooring.

During the 2021-22 financial year, Australian Sailing is incentivising RST Assessors to conduct training and assessment within the grounds of affiliated Australian Sailing Clubs and Discover Sailing Centres.

Youth Sail WA: Westsail Coaching Clinic and the WA Youth Championships!

Registrations are open for the inaugural WA Youth Sail, which encompasses the Westsail Coaching Clinic and WA Youth Championships. This year’s event is hosted by Hillarys Yacht Club, in the pristine waters of the Indian Ocean. Westsail Coaching Clinic also will be different to previous years, with a select group of sailors being invited to a Residential Camp at Ern Halliday.

A Wet Race Officer in the Mayflower

Race Three of the 2021 Valmadre Offshore Winter Series held out of Fremantle Sailing Club was run last weekend in relatively benign conditions. Only 16 of the 30 entries made it out onto the water for the 25NM race. Race Officer Cameron Berg and the Offshore Race Team had a tough decision with the prevailing shifty conditions. Settling on Course 5 the crews started in a very conservative manner with no one anywhere near the start line.

2021 WA Club Conference

The 2021 WA Club Conference was held on 17 July and was well supported by many members of our sailing community, with 71 people representing 23 Clubs and Class Associations.

All Welcome - Time Trial Trial Day at RFBYC

Time Trial Trial Day will be held at Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club on Saturday 31st July from 12PM with the on-water action commencing at 2PM and the social event kicking off at 4.30PM.
