Record numbers for Australia’s oldest yacht race

A change of start date and the large numbers taking part in the Ocean Racing Club of Victoria’s (ORCV) 50th Melbourne to Hobart Yacht Race (Westcoaster) has prompted record numbers for the Club’s annual Melbourne to Devonport Race - or ‘Rudder Cup’ as it famously known.

Women skippers get behind 50th ‘Westcoaster’

Seasoned and respected women sailors are among those so far signed up to compete in the Ocean Racing Club of Victoria’s (ORCV) 50th Melbourne to Hobart Yacht Race - or ‘The Westcoaster’, as it is simply known to most - which starts at midday on 27 December, 2022.

2022 Oceanic Laser Masters Championship

What a great regatta! Sunsets, palm trees, fighter jets, warm breezes, cocktails, good company, and new friends. The Oceanic Laser Masters has been hosted by Darwin Sailing Club with 37 competitors from Australia, Thailand & New Zealand competing in the week-long event. Competitors travelled from near & far, some drove their boats north whilst others decided charter boats were a better option.

Sydney 38 sailors in a class of their own

Sydney 38’s and their sailors really are in a class of their own; the proof is in the pudding with the likes of Thierry Leseigneur’s Eye Candy taking out IRC and ORCi honours in the Groupama Around New Caledonia Race in June, while second and third overall also went New Caledonian Sydney 38s, Guilty Pleasures – Speed Marine and Poulpito MLS FCD.
