The New South Wales region is home to one of the largest and most active sailing communities, with over 125 Clubs and Discover Sailing Centres providing a broad range of activities and events for people of all ages and ability.
Australian Sailing is proud to support clubs, volunteers, officials and sailors. On this page you will find NSW specific information along with links to Australian Sailing’s broader information and resources.
The New South Wales community includes 107 clubs from as far north as Tweed Heads, as far south as Eden, and as far west as Griffith. We have over 50 Discover Sailing Centres across the state, where participants can learn to perfect skills in big or small boats at any age by enrolling in a nationally accredited and supported programs.
New South Wales is home to many state, national and world championships, and many of our clubs have great experience in organising and hosting these events. You can see these events posted on our NSW & ACT events calendar below.
Each year, Australian Sailing NSW & ACT co-ordinates and delivers training courses to accredit new Instructors, Coaches, and Officials. Courses for Instructors, Coaches and Officials generally takes place between March and September, outside of the peak sailing season. A limited number of courses can be held each year, so we recommend planning and enrolling early.
Several events take place each year, supported by our team. These include Sailing Summits for Club & Class Association officials, Zhik Youth Sail NSW, the NSW/ACT Sailing Awards, Training in Focus LIVE for Instructors, Officials Workshops, and Sail Sydney.
The NSW Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) is established to represent NSW clubs, which replaced the function previously performed by the YNSW board. The RAC representatives engage with and provide feedback from member clubs, and advocate and promote sailing and Australian Sailing.
You can see the latest news and updates from Australian Sailing on our NSW news page, and by following us on Facebook & Instagram. Clubs and Class Associations are encouraged to share event information and reports to us via the NSW Sailing News page.
The Australian Sailing NSW & ACT team has a broad range of skills and are here to help with any questions you may have. Please contact our staff below.
