The latest World Sailing rankings were released late last month after the Kiel Week Regatta, June 18 to 26. Several WA teams joined their East coast counterparts and competed on the world stage amongst hundreds of sailors from around the globe.

The AUS 8 Charlwood/Catt Mixed 470 sailors finishing a respectable 14th overall after commencing their regatta with a third on the podium. Fluctuating conditions saw several top 10 results over the week. The biggest victory of the week was the new world rankings.

Congratulations Amelia Catt and Chris Charlwood. World Sailing, Ranked Number 1 in the Mixed 470 class. The duo shared a humble recognition on their social media account last week. “That feeling when the World Rankings come out.”

The team will surely use this as motivation to continue their campaign and hopefully secure an Olympic spot. Fellow WA team of Nia Jerwood and Conor Nicholas sit tantalisingly close to the Top 10 in 11th in the World after finishing 19th at Kiel Week.
