Philanthropy Powering the Future of Sailing
Published Thu 05 Jun 2025
Sailing clubs across Australia are discovering the transformative power of philanthropy, thanks to the support of the Australian Sports Foundation (ASF). As the nation’s only non-profit sports fundraising body, ASF provides clubs with the tools and guidance to raise tax-deductible donations; helping them grow participation, upgrade facilities, and invest in the next generation of sailors.
With more than 6,000 clubs and athletes already benefiting from ASF’s platform, sailing organisations are increasingly leveraging its expertise to secure vital funds beyond traditional grants and sponsorships. From funding new dinghies to delivering junior training programs or improving accessibility for all-abilities sailing, fundraising is proving essential for long-term club sustainability.
“The Australian Sports Foundation has been a game-changer for our club,” said one club Commodore. “Through a targeted fundraising campaign, we raised enough to upgrade our fleet and expand our youth program, ensuring more people can experience the joy of sailing.”
ASF offers an online fundraising platform, campaign support, donation governance and instant tax-deductible receipting. Clubs that register with ASF can run year-round donation drives or targeted campaigns for specific projects.
Now, through a new integration with RevolutioniseSPORT (RevSport), raising funds is easier than ever. Sailing clubs using RevSport can seamlessly embed ASF donation forms directly into their membership and registration processes, making it simple for members and supporters to give as they sign up or renew.
Australian Sailing encourages clubs of all sizes to explore fundraising to build stronger communities on and off the water. With ASF’s support, local sailing can continue to thrive, powered by the generosity of members, alumni, and supporters.
