Northern Territory Championships

What a cracking weekend for the NT Championships!

We were treated to a bit of everything weather-wise. Saturday kicked off with a howling breeze that certainly blew away the cobwebs, while also creating plenty of excitement on the beach as boats limped back to shore with broken gear. The challenging conditions meant only half the fleet managed to complete races in the morning session due to equipment failures.

After some quick repairs, a few borrowed parts, and plenty of determination, most crews were back on the water for the afternoon. Although it remained breezy, the conditions were a little kinder than the morning. Sunday continued with fresh, gusty winds before easing into a more subdued afternoon, providing another great day of racing.

It was fantastic to see strong fleet numbers across the regatta. Even better was the impressive turnout of junior sailors in the RS Quests. They looked to be having the most fun of any fleet, and it was great to see the distinctive green spinnakers lighting up the course throughout the weekend.

A huge thank you goes to everyone who volunteered to make the event such a success, whether helping with race management, rescue operations, or keeping boats on the water through countless repairs. It was a wonderful weekend of Dry Season sailing, complemented by a friendly social atmosphere both on and off the water.

This year's championships featured six divisions: ILCA 6, ILCA 7, Tasar, RS Quest, A-Class and Tornado.

Congratulations to all our winners and to every sailor who made the competition so enjoyable. A special thanks also to Barry Park and Andrew Rice, who captured some fantastic photos throughout the weekend. The images have been added to the gallery and are available to download.
