General Manager - Victoria Update April 2026

Published Wed 01 Apr 2026

It has been an incredibly busy and exciting couple of months in sailing, with too much to capture in the Victorian news report but I hope following cross section of news stories in the last couple of months exemplifies the energy and spirit of Sailing across Victoria.

REMINDER– I would like to remind all clubs of the following items that need a response from clubs.

  1. Club Membership transfer application to Australian Sailing (AS) form. – With confirmation received on the 23rd of January 2026 of the cancellation of Yachting Victoria as an incorporated association we now need to transfer your club membership to be direct to Australian Sailing. Under the Corporations Act each Victorian Club is required to apply for transfer to Australian Sailing. All the information and the transfer request is on the online application Click Here that the appointed club official need to complete. It is essentially a formality to move from Yachting Victoria to Australian Sailing. Once clubs have signed the transfer, nominations will be sought in May for the Victorian Regional Area Committee to be formed soon after.

  1. 2026 Club Survey The purpose of this survey is to seek direct insights from clubs on your level of satisfaction and engagement with Australian Sailing. It also provides an opportunity for clubs to provide feedback on what support they value from Australian Sailing and what areas they would like more support with. There is to be only one completed survey per club and to be completed by 30 April 2026. 2026 AS Club Survey

  1. Grants - I highly recommend all clubs apply for both grants below. AS is happy to provide a letter of support.

    • Vic Govt Sporting Club Grant. Closes 7 April 2026 Click Here  The Program provides grants of up to $1,000 for uniforms and equipment; up to $1,500 for resources that improve governance and engagement; up to $5,000 for projects to strengthen volunteering and officiating; up to $5,000 to deliver a new sport or recreation program and up to $750 to support athlete travel. Closes 7 April 2026 Click Here
    • AS Sail Our Way Participation Grant – Round 2 Now Open. Funded through the Australian Government’s Department of Health and Aged Care, the program aims to help break down barriers and create more inclusive opportunities for women and girls in sailing. Affiliated clubs and class associations can apply for grants of up to $1,500 (ex GST) to support initiatives that increase participation, encourage women and girls into leadership, coaching, and officiating roles, and build positive and welcoming club environments. Successful projects must be delivered between 1 May and 31 December 2026. Applications close: 20 April at 11:59pm. Click Here

Thank You to the clubs that have already completed these tasks.
