General Update
It's been a busy few months with several events taking place across the NT. Some of the activities that Australian Sailing has delivered since March are detailed in this news article for those that may not be across what’s been happening.
Youth Sail NT
Focused on growing participation in junior and youth classes, improving skills, fostering social connection, and building friendship and community between our youth sailors. This is the biggest sailing event on the Darwin calendar and has proven the best platform to transition kids from learn to sail into boat owners and full members.
6-10 July
Action Item/s for Club / Why this is important for you:
- Promote registrations to junior sailors (old & new)
- Recruit volunteers
School Sports Vouchers
The new round of applications for providers will open on 7 June. Sport & Recreation providers will need to re-apply to become a provider for the next 5 years.
Action Item/s for Club:
- Re-apply as a provider before 30 June
- Promote the fact that you accept Sports Vouchers
SailLAB
After some local promotion there are now 7 x Darwin schools and 4 x East Arnhem schools registered and running SailLAB in Term 2 & Term 3 2026. Both locations have had their first requests for a SailLAB Experience Day at their local club.
Action Item/s for Club:
- Ensure your club is familiar with the SailLAB Experience Day format
- Formalise a quote template for these bookings
- Learn how to set them up in RevSPORT
- Learn how to use and look after the DF65 boats
Sailing Awards – Nominations Open
Nominations are now open for the 2026 Sailing Awards, an opportunity for all Clubs and Associations to recognise outstanding achievements and contributions to the sailing community over the past year.
Please view all information on the Awards HERE, and submit nominations by Monday 3 August.
