Exmouth Shire President, Matt Niikkula, was instrumental in getting permission for the club to use one of the canals in the Exmouth Marina development as a safe area for novice sailors, and the weather was perfect on the day.  Four yachts were set up for sailing.  Eleven Exmouth children took part, and all thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

This Discover Sailing Experience has been four years in the planning.  In 2016 four club members completed the dinghy instructor’s course in Perth and last year the club purchased 10 Optimist yachts, complete with life jackets, from Royal Perth Yacht Club.  Both of these projects were made possible by grants from the Gascoyne Development Commission’s Community Chest Fund and Royalties for Regions, and financial assistance from our club sponsors.
