Change to course completion certificate

Published Tue 03 Feb 2026

We’ve updated the course certificate with a new design and the signature of Malcolm Page, Chief Executive Officer. Screenshots of the updated certificates are included below.

As part of this update, the wording has changed from Certificate of Completion to Certificate of Participation. This change supports our commitment to a consistent standard of delivery across Discover Sailing Centre programs, while recognising that courses can vary in structure, delivery and assessment between centres.

Using Certificate of Participation better reflects this flexibility, while still acknowledging the effort and engagement of participants. It provides clarity for participants, helps ensure consistency across programs nationally, and avoids any unintended suggestion that the certificate represents competency in specific skills where this may not apply. It also allows the same certificate to be issued to all participants who attend and take part in the course.

For centres that wish to track skill development, competency criteria are available within the syllabus in the Instructor Resources Hub. These can be used to mark skill progression during the course or at completion, and may be helpful if a participant returns for further training or support, or attends a course at another centre.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss this change further, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
