Australian Sailing Welcomes High Performance Investment Through Win Well Strategy

Published Thu 18 Jun 2026

Australian Sailing has welcomed the Australian Government's announcement of a $513 million investment in high performance sport, reinforcing its commitment to Australian athletes and the long-term success of the nation's sporting system.

The funding, delivered through the Win Well strategy, is confirmed until 2028 and will support the Australian Sailing Team as they continue their preparations for the Los Angeles Olympic Games. The $513 million investment will be split among 68 high performance programs and ensure record levels of investment continue through to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Australian Sailing Chief Executive Officer Malcolm Page OAM OLY said the announcement provides certainty for athletes, coaches and support staff as sports continue building towards Los Angeles and beyond.

"Australian Sailing welcomes this significant investment by the Australian Government and thanks Minister Wells, the Australian Sports Commission and the Australian Institute of Sport for their continued commitment to high performance sport," Page said.

"This investment is a strong endorsement of our team and the way the high-performance system has united behind the Win Well strategy.

"To optimise athlete success at Los Angeles 2028 and ensure that success continues well beyond the Games, investment is required now to ensure the right support structures are in place in the coming years.

Australian Sailing High Performance Director Iain Brambell OLY said the continuation of funding will help maintain momentum across the system and ensure athletes continue to receive world-class support.

"One of the most important aspects of this announcement is the certainty it provides to retain key coaches, support staff and performance specialists who play a critical role in our team’s success," Brambell said.

"High performance results are built over many years through consistent investment in people, programs and environments. This funding allows us to continue building capability and consistency across our program, ensuring athletes have access to the expertise and resources they need to compete at the front of the fleet.

"As Australia’s second most successful Olympic multi-Gold medal winning sport, having won multiple Gold medals at three of the past five Olympic Games, this funding will help ensure Sailing continues our rich Olympic legacy in LA. The government’s renewed investment has strengthened our quest for multi-Gold and importantly furthered our ability to support a growing range of classes, well positioned for additional podium success."

Australian Sailing looks forward to continuing its performance partnership with the Australian Sports Commission and Australian Institute of Sport to support athletes, coaches and teams in achieving sustained success on the world stage.
