Julia Hornsby – Commodore, Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club (RPAYC) 

We are delighted to announce Julia Hornsby as our second speaker for the SheSails International Conference 2026 on Monday 19 October at 7pm.

Julia brings a wealth of experience to the conference, both as a sailor and as someone who has dedicated significant time to strengthening and supporting the sailing community. 

After beginning competitive sailing at RPAYC in 2011, Julia went on to campaign her boat Pick Pocket from 2016, building an outstanding record across a wide range of Club racing series. 

Her contribution to the sport extends well beyond racing. Over the years, Julia has volunteered across Race Management, Heritage, Community Sailing, Sailability NSW and Club governance, with her contribution recognised at Club, District, State and National levels. In 2025, this commitment was recognised nationally when Julia was named Australian Sailing’s Volunteer of the Year.

That same year, Julia led the delivery of the International Hansa Class Association World and Para World Championships at RPAYC, an event that brought together over 200 sailors from around the world and showcased the importance of accessible and inclusive competition. 

Now, as Commodore of RPAYC, Julia continues to champion opportunities for more women to become involved in sailing, while working to ensure pathways into the sport are welcoming and accessible to sailors of all backgrounds and abilities. 

At this year’s SheSails International Conference, Julia will share her perspective on leadership, inclusion and the role clubs can play in creating environments where more women can participate, contribute and progress within sailing.
