Why learn powerboating?

Powerboating gives you practical, real-world skills you'll use both on and off the water.

You'll learn to handle a boat with confidence in a range of conditions, read the water and weather, and respond calmly when things don't go to plan. It's hands-on learning that builds independence — and for many, a genuine pathway toward a boat licence.

Powerboating also opens the door to supporting your club, whether that's driving a safety boat for races and rescues, helping run training sessions, or simply being ready to lend a hand on the water. It's a skillset that's always in demand, and one that makes you a valuable part of any club.

Learn with Australian Sailing

Keep sailing

Completing a course is only the beginning.

Once you've developed your skills, there are plenty of ways to keep sailing — from joining your local sailing club and sailing socially, through to club racing, regattas and further coaching.

Your next adventure starts on the water.
