Why learn keelboat sailing?
Keelboats are stable, sociable and built for teamwork. A weighted keel keeps the boat upright, so the focus shifts from staying dry to working together — trimming sails, calling tactics and steering a course.
You'll build practical skills that carry over to boats of all sizes, from twilight racing to offshore passages, and become a valuable crew member on any boat. For many sailors, it's also the first step toward owning or skippering a boat of their own.

Australian Sailing Keelboat courses are delivered by qualified Australian Sailing Keelboat Instructors at accredited Discover Sailing Centres.
Our instructors are trained to create safe, supportive and engaging learning environments, helping participants develop both practical sailing skills and the knowledge to enjoy the sport.

Completing a course is only the beginning.
Once you've developed your skills, there are plenty of ways to keep sailing — from joining your local sailing club and sailing socially, through to club racing, regattas and further coaching.
