Keelboat Program

Run the Keelboat Program at your club

Give people a fun, accessible pathway from their first sail through to skippering and racing.

The Australian Sailing Keelboat Program is a national program designed to give participants an accessible entry into sailing and a clear pathway to develop their sailing skills and techniques.

The program provides progressive learning opportunities, from the basics of sailing a small keelboat to developing the skills and confidence to skipper, use spinnakers and race.

Bring the excitement of keelboat sailing to your Discover Sailing Centre and give participants the opportunity to keep developing their skills as they progress through the pathway.

Why run the Keelboat Program at your Centre?

Give participants a clear pathway

The Keelboat Program provides a structured progression from learning the basics of sailing like crewing and helming, through to skippering, spinnaker sailing and racing.

Build confident sailors and crews

Participants develop practical sailing skills, safety knowledge and an understanding of the different roles within a crew—building the confidence to sail competently and work effectively as part of a team.

Connect people with more sailing opportunities

The pathway gives participants opportunities to continue sailing beyond their first course, including progressing to larger yachts or getting involved as crew on racing yachts.
