Sailing Results and Presentations

Last weekend the Javelin Association of WA held their State Presentations Dinner. After a late venue change, they sailed into Little Creatures. Congratulations to “Joanne” sailed by Bill Devine and Dan Moore in first, “Phlem buoyant” sailed by Ben Mawson and Nelly Sadler in second and a valiant effort for “Valiant” in third with Tim and Greg Vance.

ORCV Winter Series sees Rush to the line in light winds

ORCV Winter Series kicked off with 45 competitors out on Port Philip enjoying some close racing after the conclusion of the lockdown period last Saturday. It was a race of 17 nautical miles sailed in tricky light-winds where boat speed can make any sailor a tactical genius, and the aim of the game on Saturday was certainly to settle the boat and pick the right sails.

There are new criminal law offences commencing in Queensland to increase protection of children from the risk of sexual abuse. The new offences target behaviour that ignores or hides the sexual abuse of children. Everyone involved in sport and active recreation has a role to play in keeping children safe from harm.
