Drummoyne Sailing Club - 110/50 Year Celebrations

Drummoyne Sailing Club held the 110/50 celebrations on Saturday 4th Nov to commemorate the 110-year anniversary of DSC   plus the 50-year anniversary of the Snails Bay Sailing Club joining DSC and establishing a range of dinghy and junior classes at DSC . Sunday 5th was the “Festival of Sail”  with a Sail Past at 1.30 pm and the “ Three  Island Fun race” from 2.00pm.

Jocelyn Webb writes, “The long weekend in October marks the start of Daylight Saving – and also the annual Ladies of the Sea two day Coaching regatta. LOTS regatta enables women to learn and grow sailing skills and solidify and make friendships in a safe, fun, nurturing and supportive environment. Over 150 sailors, coaches and volunteers representing nearly 30 clubs, 5 states and (even Hong Kong – LOTS is international!) worked together to create magic on and off the water.

The WASZP Queensland State Championships were held over the weekend of 28-29 Oct. Expertly hosted by the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron, the event was a great success with 16 year old North Queensland sailor, Nicholas Dunne, winning and retaining his state championship title.

Disko Trooper¬_Contender Sailcloth was launched in time for Jules Hall to contest the 2021 Rolex Sydney Hobart - in two-handed mode with Jan ‘Clogs’ Scholten - the pair making a name for themselves and the boat early on, but this year a change in circumstances means they have adopted a new approach to the race.

2023 Beneteau Cup conquers the elementson Sydney Harbour

They usually come from far and wide to attend Flagstaff Marine’s annual Beneteau Cup. The 2023 edition definitely continued that trend, and how! Since being created some 28 years ago, no one else has amassed 7400nm to be a part of it. Charles-Etienne Devanneaux and his crew of French offshore legends brought the very new Beneteau First 44, Lenny, all the way from Los Angles via the world famous Transpac race to Hawaii, thence on to Fiji, New Caledonia, and ultimately, Sydney.
