Victorian Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) Ballot

Dear Victorian Club Commodores and Secretaries,

Re: Victorian Regional Advisory Committee (VIC RAC) Ballot – 2026–2027 Term

Following the recent call for nominations, we are pleased to advise that nine nominations have been received for the six elected positions available on the Victorian Regional Advisory Committee (VIC RAC) for the 2026–2027 term. Please click here for the online ballot form. 

As the number of nominations exceeds the available positions, a ballot of affiliated Victorian clubs is now required.

  • Cyrus Allen – Commodore, Ocean Racing Club of Victoria
  • Mitchell Bayliss – Committee, Melbourne Trailable Yacht Club
  • Cherry Birch – Commodore, Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron
  • Tony Christmas – Commodore, Safety Beach Sailing Club
  • Bentley Conn – Committee, Gippsland Lakes Yacht Club
  • Alex Morton – Training Committee, Albert Park Yacht Club / Hobsons Bay Yacht Club
  • Ethen Oates – Committee, Albury Wodonga Sailing Club
  • Scott Watson – Commodore, McCrae Yacht Club

Further information regarding each nominee is provided in Appendix A attached to assist clubs in making an informed decision.

Voting Information

All affiliated Victorian clubs are eligible to vote to determine the six elected representatives.

Each club may submit one ballot, selecting up to six nominees. Voting will close at 5:00pm on Friday 10 July 2026.

As outlined in the VIC RAC Charter, voting is weighted according to each club's Australian Sailing Affiliation Band category.

Transition Arrangements

As part of the transition from Yachting Victoria (YV) to the Victorian Regional Advisory Committee, the following continuing YV representatives will automatically be appointed to the VIC RAC:

  • Darren Eger – Sandringham Yacht Club
  • Liesl Petterd – Royal Yacht Club of Victoria

These appointments ensure continuity and support the successful establishment of the new committee.
