QLD Regional Advisory Committee
In 2016 Australian Sailing (AS) and the State and Territory Associations (MYA’s) agreed to embark on a process to improve the national governance structure of sailing for the long term good of the whole of the sport. Known as “One Sailing”, AS and the MYA’s committed to provide sailing in Australia a legal, governance and management framework that optimises the prospects of the success of the sport. As a result of this, it is Australian Sailing’s responsibility to deliver all services that were previously performed by the state bodies.
In 2026, QLD clubs voted to wind up Yachting QLD. The AS constitution was amended to allow clubs to become voting members and clubs in QLD are now members of Australian Sailing.
A Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) has been established to represent QLD clubs, which has replaced the function previously performed by the YQLD board.
The RAC representatives engage with and provide feedback from member clubs, and advocate and promote sailing and Australian Sailing. RAC representatives can be nominated by member clubs when a call for nominations is issued in May each year.
