What’s On in February — Sail Our Way

February promises plenty of action on the water for women and girls with Sail Our Way. The program continues to deliver inclusive, hands-on sailing opportunities, whether you’re taking your first steps on a dinghy or sharpening your racing skills.
Here’s a look at the key events happening this month that you can get involved in:
Thu 5 February – Thu 26 February 2026 | Women’s Thursday Sailing (4-Week Course)
Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club, NSW | 5:15pm – 7:45pm
This four-week course is designed to help women build confidence and develop sailing skills in a friendly, supportive environment. Ideal for those new to sailing or looking to refresh their skills, the program offers practical on-water experience while sailing as part of a crew.
This course will include four sessions, conducted on consecutive Thursday dates as listed, with Bubbles & Nibbles celebrations held at the conclusion of the final session.

Sun 8 February – Sun 22 March 2026 | Northern Beaches Girls Sailing Championships & Start Sailing Course
Hillary’s Yacht Club, WA | 11:30am – 3:30pm
A girls-only (aged 7-12) sailing program designed to inspire confidence, teamwork and leadership on the water - while sparking a lifelong love of sailing! Whether you’ve never stepped into a boat before or you’re looking for a fun new challenge, this program offers a welcoming and supportive all-female environment to learn and grow.
Participants begin with the Start Sailing Course, developing a strong foundation in core sailing skills through engaging, hands-on instruction. From there, sailors have the opportunity to take part in the Northern Beaches Girls Sailing Championships, putting their skills into practice in a friendly and inclusive racing environment.

Fri 13 February 2026 | Pride Regatta Returns to Sydney Harbour
Sydney Harbour, NSW | Twilight
The Pride Regatta is back for its second year, bringing together LGBTQ+ sailors, allies and sailing clubs for a joyful celebration of diversity on the water. Held as a one-off add-on division alongside RANSA’s regular Friday twilight race, the event combines competition, community and inclusion, welcoming sailors of all experience levels.
Following the race, participants and spectators are invited to the Pride Regatta Village at Rushcutters Bay to connect, celebrate, and reflect on the day.
Registrations are now open for yacht owners and individual crew members. Everyone is welcome—whether you identify as LGBTQ+, an ally, or simply support inclusive sailing.

Sat 14 February 2026 | SheSails: Wind, Water & Wellness
Albury Wodonga Sailing Club, VIC | 9:00am – 2:00pm
Discover the joy of sailing on Lake Hume in this fun and friendly Sail Our Way event.
Participants will:
- Join small group ‘try out’ sailing sessions led by experienced sailors
- Take part in a guided stretching exercise session led by a female instructor
- Meet and reconnect with women in the local community
- Enjoy a delicious light lunch prepared by volunteers
This event is limited to 25 participants and is funded by Australian Sailing in partnership with the Department of Health and Aged Care as part of the Sail Our Way program, designed to increase female participation in sailing.

Sun 15 February - Sunday 15 March 2026 | Sail Our Way — Supported Dinghy Sailing Introduction
Cairn Curran Sailing Club, VIC | 10:30am – 4:00pm
Delivered across two Sundays in February and March, participants will be introduced to the club and its facilities, learn basic sailing skills and safety procedures, rig and launch a dinghy, sail around a course, and take part in group debriefs. Lunch in the clubhouse or on the shaded deck is included, along with light refreshments after sailing.
The club provides experienced instructors, safety equipment, on-water supervision and sailing dinghies. Participants are encouraged to bring suitable clothing that can get wet, secure footwear, sunscreen, and a sense of adventure. Attendees may choose to attend either or both sessions.

Fri 20 February – Fri 20 March 2026 | ‘Sail Our Way’ Women’s Inshore Coaching (Session 1)
Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club, NSW | 5:30pm – 8:00pm
Session 1 of the Women’s Inshore Coaching series returns in February, offering participants structured coaching in a supportive environment.
Designed for intermediate sailors, this program includes scheduled coaching sessions and the chance to practice and race in club and class association programs. It’s a great opportunity to build confidence on the water while improving your skills in a guided, hands-on setting.
