The 2025 Winter Sydney SheSails Foiling Clinic

Published Thu 03 Jul 2025

On Saturday 28th June 2025, Hunters Hill Sailing Club hosted a NSW SheSails Foiling Clinic for women interested in developing foundation foiling skills!

Held in partnership between Australian Sailing NSW and the Inspire Sailfoiling Foundation, this project has been supported by the NSW Office of Sport Organisational Support Program. The project aims to provide women in sailing an opportunity to further their skills and experience with foiling craft.

It was a great opportunity for the young and the young at heart to get exposure to key aspects of the foiling life. The clinic covered general foiling principles, the workings of a WASZP and how to rig, launch and recover, right, and fly these sailfoilers.

With an unfortunate fading breeze, the on-water session focused on familiarisation with the WASZP's feel and movement. The group’s sailing experience ranged from Optimist, Spiral and ILCA dinghies, through to keel boats and windsurfers.

The common themes that sailors shared were that they all improved their 'feel for the boat', as well as having fun learning new skills with others. There were plenty of smiles and laughs throughout the day, with many already looking forward to their next foiling experience!

Thank you to Jervis Tilly from Inspire Sailfoiling Foundation for his expertise and assistance with coordinating and coaching this SheSails clinic, and to Hunters Hill Sailing Club for hosting the group.
