The Tasmanian Regional Advisory Committee plays a vital role in supporting the Tasmanian sailing community through leadership, guidance of AS operations and to represent the views and interests of clubs across the state. Following a call for nominations for representatives to join the Regional Advisory Committee we’re pleased to announce the new composition of the RAC.

Regional Advisory Committee:

• Richard Bevan, Chair – RYCT
• Jill Abel – DSS
• Chris Symonds – WYC
• Danny Cunningham – BYC
• Greg Rowsell – PDYC

Richard Batt is the immediate past Chair of the Regional Advisory (previously Yachting Tasmania President) and chose to step down from RAC. Batt played an integral role in leading the group through the Yachting Tasmania deregistration process and establishing the Regional Advisory Committee. We thank Richard Batt for his support and leadership over many years, and for leaving the Tasmanian sailing community in good health.

Richard Bevan has been elected as the new Chair of the RAC. “I believe a have the passion, experience, capability and availability to carry out this important role,” said Bevan. He is a respected member of the sailing community and is currently the Commodore of Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania. Richard comes with plenty of business and leadership experience in various industries in senior roles. He also enjoys his time on the water cruising and keelboat racing.

We welcome Danny Cunningham as a new member to the RAC with experience in finance, keelboat racing and property management. Danny is a long serving member of the Bellerive Yacht Club and has been an integral part or the club’s management for some time. Danny has been the BYC Treasurer in recent years helping grow the club and pursuing its current marina development. With a passion for grass roots sailing we eagerly await Danny’s input to the RAC.
