New AS Policies: World Championships and Representative Teams
Published Tue 20 May 2025
To better support World Sailing Classes and Clubs wanting to host World and Continental Championships, Australian Sailing has updated the Hosting Class World and Continental Championships in Australia Policy which outlines the support we can provide and the role AS plays in helping clubs and classes comply with World Sailing regulations.
Some of the support provided by Australian Sailing includes:
- Co-ordinate the Australian Sailing Calendar.
- Provide written support to the Class Association, host Club or event organiser in the bidding process.
- Assist with information, guidance and support regarding funding support for bidding and hosting international events.
- Assist Class Associations, host Clubs and event organisers once the event is awarded.
- Promote the event through publishing details on the Australian Sailing Event Calendar, including a link to the event website.
- Assist in coordinating members available for International Juries if required, particularly international judges/umpires coming to Australia for other events.
- Assist with the appointment of a Principal Race Officer if required.
- Assist where necessary with the preparation of World Sailing standard Documents and State/Territory regulations.
World Sailing Classes sending teams to international events can apply to use the Commonwealth Coat of Arms on playing and dress uniforms of Australian representative sports persons and accompanying officials.
The Australian Sailing use of Australian Coat of Arms Policy ensures Australian Sailing, Affiliated Classes and Clubs comply with the Australian Government Branding Guidelines for approval and use of the Australian Coat of Arms. This policy outlines the Australian Sailing requirements to accept a request for use of the Australian Coat of Arms, and the Australian Government requirements to issue an approval to Australian Sailing for a representative team to use the Coat of Arms.
Both policies apply to all World Sailing Classes and Clubs affiliated to Australian Sailing.
Further information for Class Associations can be found here.
