Working closely with the Commodore, General Committee and club volunteers, this varied, hands-on role spans membership, sponsorship, clubhouse hire, communications, community engagement and grants. The club has an existing administrator responsible for routine administration; this is a specialised growth, engagement and delivery position.
Key Responsibilities
Membership Growth & Member Experience
• Coordinate membership enquiries, onboarding, renewals, communications, records, the online platform and fee collection processes.
• Develop practical initiatives to attract new members, improve engagement and strengthen membership retention.
Sponsorship & Partnerships
• Proactively identify, approach and follow up prospective local sponsors and community partners.
• Develop, present and submit professional sponsorship proposals and packages, manage agreed benefits and evaluate outcomes.
Clubhouse Hire & Function Delivery
• Administer clubhouse hire enquiries, bookings, agreements, scheduling, pricing and external liaison, coordinating bookings with club activities.
• Personally coordinate and deliver functions on site, including hirer welcome, access, setup, operational oversight, issue resolution, close-down and handover. Functions may occur during evenings or weekends.
Communications, Community Engagement & Grants
• Maintain the club's website, social media, digital screens and communication channels, promoting programs, racing, regattas, events and achievements.
• Build relationships with local schools, community groups, businesses and organisations and promote the club as a welcoming community hub.
• Identify suitable grant opportunities and prepare, submit and administer formal applications, including reporting and acquittals.
About You
You will be a confident relationship-builder who can work independently, follow through on commitments and operate effectively within a volunteer-led community organisation.
Essential Skills & Experience
• Strong organisation, initiative and attention to detail, with the flexibility to work independently and balance priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, relationship-building and presentation skills, including confidence presenting opportunities to businesses, community stakeholders and large groups.
• Experience in sponsorship, sales, partnerships, fundraising or business development, with the willingness and confidence to cold call, follow up leads and actively pursue opportunities.
• Strong proposal-writing skills, including the ability to prepare professional sponsorship, partnership, funding or grant proposals.
• Experience with a CRM, membership database or similar online platform, digital communications, website content and social media, plus the willingness to learn Club Sailing Manager and other club systems.
• The confidence and practical capability to personally coordinate and deliver clubhouse functions on site.
• A current Working with Children Check and satisfactory National Police Check, or the willingness to obtain both before commencing employment.
Highly Regarded
• Experience in a community, sporting, membership-based or not-for-profit organisation; grant administration experience; or an interest in sailing, sport and community participation.
Why Join McCrae Yacht Club?
• A broad role with genuine scope to improve the club's member experience and community reach.
• Flexible part-time hours and the opportunity to shape systems, communications and growth initiatives.
• A welcoming bayside environment supported by committed volunteers and an active membership.
