Host a 'Shape of Wind' Screening at Your Club
Published Tue 27 Oct 2026
To celebrate the national release of Shape of Wind across Australian Sailing's social media channels on Thursday 5 November 2026, clubs across Australia are encouraged to bring their sailing communities together by hosting a special screening of the new SheSails short film.
Shape of Wind celebrates the people, relationships and experiences that help shape women's journeys in sailing. Following a mother and daughter's connection with the sport, the film explores the people who have supported, encouraged and influenced their experiences along the way.
At its heart, Shape of Wind is a story about community, connection and the lasting impact sailing can have across generations.
From Monday 9 November, clubs that submit an expression of interest will be sent an exclusive extended version of the film, featuring additional interviews and stories from the water. Running for approximately 15 minutes, the film offers clubs an opportunity to bring members together, celebrate the stories and experiences of women and girls in sailing, and inspire the next generation to get involved.
Whether it's hosting a dedicated SheSails screening, incorporating the film into a Discover Sailing Day or screening it at an existing club event, there are plenty of ways to bring women and girls together and inspire more people to get involved in sailing.
1. Host a dedicated SheSails screening event
Bring members, families and the wider community together for a special screening of Shape of Wind at your club. Make it part of a wider social gathering, giving members the opportunity to connect, share their sailing experiences and enjoy drinks and refreshments. You could also include a short Q&A session or panel discussion featuring local sailors to build on the film’s themes and encourage conversation.
It’s a great opportunity to celebrate women and girls in sailing, highlight local stories and inspire more people to get involved in the sport.
2. Include the film as part of an open day or Discover Sailing Day
Use Shape of Wind as part of a club open day or Discover Sailing Day to introduce new participants to SheSails and showcase the opportunities available in sailing.
The screening could sit alongside on-water activities and club tours, giving women and girls the chance to experience sailing and learn more about how they can stay involved.
3. Add a screening to an existing women and girls’ event
Already running a SheSails activity, regatta, training session or social event? Incorporate Shape of Wind into your existing program as another way to bring participants together.
Clubs could screen the film over lunch, dinner or drinks, or use it to start a broader conversation about participation, pathways and opportunities for women and girls in sailing.
What clubs will receive
To help make hosting a screening as easy as possible, clubs that register their interest will receive access to the extended 15-minute Shape of Wind screening file from Monday 9 November, along with an event run sheet to help plan and deliver their screening.
Eligible clubs hosting a SheSails Discover Sailing Day may also have access to SheSails merchandise including leaflets, tote bags, keyrings, stickers and pennants.
