General Manager - Tasmania Monthly Update - January 2024

Published Wed 24 Jan 2024

Thank you to all the Clubs, Classes and volunteers who helped with the many sailing events over the Summer break. With International Cadet Nationals, Offshore Racing with sensational finishes, and Moths zipping around the Derwent, it has definitely been an active time and so good to watch. I am aware that there are still events happening and have been sharing any event Facebook posts onto the Australian Sailing -Tas page. However, if I have missed something please tag me into your event and I will endeavour to add it.

On Friday 26th January, Deviot Sailing Club will be hosting a Discover Sailing Day and I will be attending and hope to entice some new members to the club. Also, that weekend, Saturday 27th January, the RYCT is again celebrating sailing with their Discover Sailing Day at the Sandy Bay Regatta. So, if you are in the North or the South of the State, please share this information with anyone who is interested in sailing. Details about Discover Sailing Days can be found HERE.

For anyone interested in the Protest process and how to hold a Protest, we are holding a Regional Judges Course on February 11th at the RYTC. This is relevant to all clubs, and it would be valuable to have qualified Judges that could support several clubs all over the State. Working collaboratively is the way to go! Regional Judge Course - RYCT.

On Saturday 2nd March, the DSS will be holding the Women’s Keelboat Regatta with passage and windward/leeward racing. All women sailors are welcome to enter with more information coming out soon. You may already have a boat and crew ready or need a boat and would like to crew. For any enquires please contact Colleen at the DSS sailing@dssinc.org.au
