GRANT OPPORTUNITIES 

Seniors Month Grants 

An annual opportunity for community organisations and businesses to apply for one-off grants of up to $2,000 to assist them to hold an event or activity for seniors during Seniors Month in August 2026.

Sail Our Way Grants – Round 2 

Funding is available for eligible clubs and class associations for participation initiatives that: 

  • Increase participation of women and girls in sailing
  • Boost representation in leadership, coaching and official roles
  • Foster positive club cultures that value and respect women and girls from all backgrounds

Quick Response Grants - Youth 2025/2026 

Provide financial support to community groups and organisations in order to enable young Territorians to engage and participate in a variety of drug and alcohol-free recreational activities, personal development opportunities, and leadership programs. 

Closes: 30/04/2026 

25/26 Sport Voucher Scheme (Parents/Carers) 

Every child living in the Northern Territory, from Transition to Year 12, who is enrolled in an NT school or registered for home-schooling, is eligible. Vouchers can be used to offset the cost of sport & recreation activities through registered providers. 

Closes: 24/05/26 

General Grants Program 2025/26 (Office of Gender Equity and Diversity) 

Funding is available to eligible individuals, organisations or community groups for a project, service or activity that promotes gender equality in the Northern Territory.

NT Training in Focus 

This event bring together Instructors, Discover Sailing Centre Principals, Training Coordinators and Centre Administrators and are a great way to continue to develop your practical instructing skills, share best practice, gain valuable insights and knowledge through peer learning, and to stay updated on key topics or themes in relation to GROWING participation at your club or centre. 

Location: Darwin Sailing Club 

Thursday 9 April 1600-1830 

Assistant Instructor Course 

The first step in the instructing pathway and a great starting point for anyone interested in teaching others to sail. Min age 12 years. 

Location: Lake Alexander 

Friday 10 April 0900-1600 

Dinghy Instructor Course 

This course aims to teach effective techniques for theory and practical instructing with continuous feedback and support. Min age 16 years. 

Location: Gove Boat Club 

Sat 11 & Sun 12 April 0900-1600 

Youth Sail NT 

Focused on growing participation in junior and youth classes, improving skills, fostering social connection, and building friendship and community between our youth sailors.  

Location: Darwin Sailing Club 

Mon 6 – Fri 10 July 

ILCA Development Squad 

Focused on retaining youth sailors as they move into the ILCA class. The program offers weekly coaching to improve skills on the racecourse and strengthen community of youth sailors.  

Location: Darwin Sailing Club 

Thursdays 4.30-6.30pm 

Minnow Development Squad 

Focused on retaining junior sailors as they move into and develop within the Minnow class. The program offers weekly coaching to improve skills on the racecourse and strengthen community of youth sailors. Charter boats are available for Green Fleet. The program is split into two groups; 

  • Green Fleet - kids that are just starting out in the Minnow 

  • Intermediate Fleet – kids that have already completed a season in the Minnow

Tuesdays 4.30-6.30pm 

PAST EVENTS 

NT Sailing Summit 

Thanks to everyone that attended the Summit. There were 22 participants with 5 deliverers on topics ranging from the Australian Sailing Participation Plan to how to secure Federal Funding for major infrastructure upgrades/replacements. Copies of the presentations will be sent out in the coming weeks.
