Clubs encouraged to prepare for Discover Sailing Month
Published Mon 01 Jun 2026
Clubs and Discover Sailing Centres nationwide are being encouraged to start planning for the return of Discover Sailing Days this November.
The annual initiative provides clubs with a valuable opportunity to open their doors to the wider community and introduce more people to the sport in a welcoming and accessible environment.
Designed to give newcomers a taste of life on the water, Discover Sailing Days allow visitors to get on the water with experienced sailors while also learning more about club life and Discover Sailing programs and courses.
Beyond getting out on the water, the events are a chance for clubs to showcase their facilities, connect with local families and build momentum ahead of the busy summer sailing season.
Australian Sailing will once again support participating clubs with promotional materials, event resources and digital marketing support in the lead-up to November. Events listed through revSPORT will be included in national promotional activity across Australian Sailing platforms and social media channels.
Discover Sailing Days continue to play an important role in growing participation across the country, with many clubs seeing strong interest not only during the event period but throughout the following summer months.
Clubs are encouraged to begin considering how they can create an engaging and inclusive experience for visitors, from planning on-water activities and beginner pathways through to local promotion and volunteer coordination. With early preparation, clubs can make the most of the opportunity to welcome a new generation of sailors into the sport.
