2026 Zhik Foil Down Under: Zhik iQFOiL and Wing Foil Nationals Set to Take Over Wangi Wangi
Published Fri 16 Jan 2026
Wangi Wangi will become the epicentre of foiling in Australia this January, hosting the 2026 Zhik Foil Down Under: Australia iQFOiL and Wing Foil Nationals, a premier event celebrating the fastest-growing disciplines in sailing.
The Nationals will bring together over 130 competitors from across Australia, alongside several international entrants, showcasing both iQFOiL and wing foil racing at an elite level. Athletes include Olympic iQFOiL competitor Grae Morris, Rory Meehan, U19 iQFOiL World Champion 2025, as well as Henry Meyers, who recently competed at the IWSA WingFoil Racing Championships in Brazil, bringing international experience and excitement to the event.
Hosted collaboratively by Australian Windsurfing, iQFOiL Class, and Australian Wing Foil Racing, the event promotes equal representation of iQFOiL and wing foil competition, offering highperformance racing across multiple divisions.
A key focus of this year’s Nationals is supporting female participation in foiling. Running alongside the competition is a fully booked two-day SheSails Wing Clinic, designed to encourage women and girls into wingfoiling and competitive racing. The clinic’s popularity reflects the growing demand for inclusive pathways and representation in the sport.
“The 2026 Zhik Foil Down Under Nationals bring together elite athletes and the broader foiling community, celebrating both iQFOiL and wing foil disciplines equally,” said an event spokesperson. “We’re particularly proud of the focus on women and girls in the sport — seeing them progress alongside Australia’s top foilers is inspiring.”
The event is proudly supported by major sponsor Zhik, with additional support from Lake Macquarie, Kite & Sup, SheSails, Australian Sailing, Chief Nutrition, Lies Collective, and PredictWind, all contributing to delivering a world-class regatta experience.
Taking place at the Wangi Amateur RSL Sailing Club, the Nationals are expected to generate significant regional impact, attracting competitors, families, and spectators to Lake Macquarie while cementing the area as a premier destination for wind-powered foiling sports.
