Good luck to Stacey Jackson as The Famous Project CIC begins their Jules Verne Trophy attempt

Published Wed 03 Dec 2025

Alexia Barrier and her all-female crew are set to depart Brest on Saturday aboard the maxi-trimaran IDEC SPORT, taking on the legendary non-stop, unassisted round-the-world Jules Verne Trophy. Among the eight sailors is Australian Stacey Jackson, a proud RPAYC member - and we wish her every success as she embarks on this extraordinary challenge.

The team will leave the dock late Saturday morning to take advantage of a tight weather window, aiming for a downwind start in manageable but rough conditions. Their goal: to complete the circumnavigation in under the existing record of 40 days and 23 hours and become the first all-female crew to achieve the feat.

The crew:

•    Alexia Barrier - France - Captain
•    Dee Caffari - Great Britain - Second
•    Annemieke Bes - Netherlands
•    Rebecca Bex Gmuer - Switzerland - New Zeeland
•    Deborah Blair- Great Britain
•    Molly Lapointe - USA-Italy - Boat Captain
•    Tamara Xiquita Echegoyen - Spain
•    Stacey Jackson - Australia
