PPWCS 2025-26 progresses to Race Day 2 Val Hodge Trophy

Published Wed 28 Jan 2026

Port Phillip Women’s Championship Series (PPWCS) 2025- 26 returns for Race Day 2 on Sunday 1 February with Royal Yacht Club of Victoria (RYCV) hosting their signature female focussed annual Val Hodge Trophy race. Initiated in 2013-14 season to join the PPWCS clubs from the top of the bay, the trophy honours Val’s talent, skills and inspiration in taking on the running of the family boat when her husband as commodore was too busy to get out on the water to race.

Sunday’s weather is looking good with 15k southerly forecast. Warning signal 1055 with start line south of Gellibrand for a single race. Time limit 3 hours. After racing, join us ashore for lunch, with lunch and drink specials available on the day, bookings recommended. Presentation will be around 1430-1500hrs. Not racing? You’re still invited!

Keen to join this summer season series? Even if you missed competing in the PPWCS Race Day 1 with the Shirley Freeman Trophy at Hobson’s Bay Yacht Club (HBYC) there are 4 more race days to even your score. Choose between two Performance Handicap divisions - Div 1 for all-female crews and Div 2 with only a female helm mandated with any crew mix.

Get your team together now, set your goals and enter.

Thanks to Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron (RMYS) for hosting PPWC Series race documents on their club for NOR and Entry.

Fair winds to all competitors!!
