Active Kids Vouchers

The NSW Government is helping kids get active with the new Active Kids program and Australian Sailing is an approved provider. From 31 January 2018, parents, guardians and carers can apply for a voucher valued up to $100 per calendar year for each school-enrolled child. The voucher may be used with an approved activity provider for registration, participation and membership costs for sport, fitness and active recreation activities. Apply for your voucher online here

If you wish to use your voucher as part payment for your instructor course please enter the discount code 'ACTIVEKIDS' on registration and email your voucher code to carl.webster@sailing.org.au.

Safetyboat Operators Course

The Safety Boat Operators certificate is requried to register for this course, we generally run a course 4 weeks prior to every coach course. You can find the upcoming coach courses here

Overview

The re-accreditation process aims to ensure quality coaching is occurring and provides participants an opportunity to be updated with the latest resources and information. Participants will deliver a practical session and receive feedback and support.

Prerequisites

• First-aid certificate (Apply first-aid or above)

• Working with Children Check

• Water confident

• Comply with relevant State Maritime Licence requirements

• Hold current Sailing Coach Qualification (cannot be lapsed more than 12 months)

Who should do this course?

This course is for anyone looking to reaccredit their Sailing Coach qualification and continue coaching.

Outcome

This process aims to maintain skills and knowledge in some of the following areas:

• General coaching skills - Communication, boat set-up, etc
• Sailing skills: Tactics, strategy, skill acquisition, etc
• Powerboat skills, whilst coaching

Pending your success, you will gain the Sailing Coach qualification for a further 5 years.
