First Aid Skills update for Club Volunteers

  • Location: Adelaide Sailing Club, Barcoo Road, West Beach, SA
  • Date: 18th October 2020
  • Time: 0915-1430
  • Cost: FREE

In partnership with Surf Life Saving SA we will deliver a skills update aimed at existing Club Volunteers who are already qualified first aiders. This session is not a first aid qualification, as it will be asumed that those in attendance already hold a minimum of Apply First Aid.

The development of this session has been in response to an incident at Somerton Yacht Club Last season. During the review process carried out by the Clubs Management, it was identified by them, that the volunteers in attendance at the incident were first aid qualified, however, as is the case with many first aid qualifications, the qualification does not always transfer well to an aquatic environment.

The Management of Somerton Yacht Club have asked us to assist with helping to up-skill all Club volunteers in SA in the practical application of first aid in a sailing environment.

This session has been developed specifically for the Sailing Club Community in South Australia, and has been done in partnership between Surf Life Saving SA and Australian Sailing, to assist with continuing training and up-skilling of our sports most vital assets, its Volunteers!

Registration by a Club Managemnet Committee member, stating the number of Club volunteers who will attend from their organisation, is mandatory so as to assist with with numbers and planning for the day.

Participants will need to bring the following on the day:

  • Usual on-water wear including your PFD
  • Sunscreen
  • An open mind and a sense of humour

We will provide a light bite to eat and drinks at the conclusion of the session for all in attendance
