WA Coach Development Day

The WA Coach Development Day is an opportunity for coaches to come together ahead of Youth Sail 2026 to learn, share ideas and strengthen their coaching practice.

Led by WAIS Coaches Matt Jerwood and Tristan Brown, the session will explore practical approaches to creating positive, supportive and effective environments where junior and youth sailors can grow, develop and thrive.

The session will focus on:

• Building the Environment for Growth
• Building Strong Coach and Parent Relationships

Coaches will explore how their leadership, communication, coaching behaviours and everyday interactions can shape the environment within their programs and influence the experience of young sailors.

The morning will be practical, interactive and discussion-based, allowing coaches to reflect on their own environments, share experiences with other coaches and explore strategies they can take directly back into their clubs and programs.

This is a chance to step outside the day-to-day, learn from experienced coaches, challenge your thinking and take away practical ideas to strengthen your coaching environment.

Attendance is expected for all coaches involved in Youth Sail 2026.
