Yachting WA Members' Information Session

Event information

Registration for this event closes at Mon 22 Jun 2026 17:00.

Dear Members,

I am writing to advise you that the Board of Yachting Western Australia have concluded that Yachting WA no longer needs to operate or exist as a separate entity, and therefore proposes to members that that Yachting WA deregisters as an Incorporated Association.

The follow supporting Explanatory Memorandum the Why to De-Registration and Frequently Asked Questions explanatory documents, share the background and information on this decision, and process.

In order to best-equip our members with information and provide input opportunities, Yachting WA will be hosting a ’Town Hall' style, information meeting as follows:

Date: Tuesday 23 June 2026

Time: 6pm to 7:30pm

Venue: Perth Dinghy Sailing Club, OR online attendance available for regional Club representatives.

Please note attendance is limited to two people per Club/Association. In the event that more than two representatives from your Club or Association have registered to attend, we will reach out to confirm the two most appropriate people. Please note the survey seeking input has now closed, in order to allow time for the Board to consider the responses ahead of this meeting.

Yachting WA Board members, along with Australian Sailing CEO Malcolm Page will be attending this meeting, along with local Australian Sailing Staff and Board Members.

The purpose of this communication, is therefore as follows:

·         To commence the communication process with members, and share the Yachting WA decision.

·         Provide factual documentation on the decision-making process and Regional Advisory Committee, and what it entails.

·         Provide members with an opportunity to influence ideas on the future expenditure of the Yachting WA held funds, to inform an Expenditure Plan, via a survey.

·         Provide an opportunity to also ask questions, or raise concerns ahead of the information meeting with Yachting WA and Malcolm Page on 23 June.

·         Enable Yachting WA and Australian Sailing to assure WA Clubs that the money is safe, and protected, upon transfer to Australian Sailing.

Should this Resolution be passed at a future Special General Meeting, the YWA Board would then become the Western Australian Regional Advisory Committee for Australian Sailing, a sub-committee of the Australian Sailing Board.

Upon passing of a proposed Special Resolution by Yachting WA Member Clubs, at a Special General Meeting in late-2026, all YWA assets will be transferred or assigned to Australian Sailing. This transfer will be accompanied by an Expenditure Plan, prepared by Yachting WA, with member input.

The purpose of this survey is to seek input into the expenditure items, to be detailed within the Plan.

In addition, please share any comments, queries, or concerns, so that a response can be prepared, ahead of the ‘Town Hall’ information meeting with Yachting Western Australia and Australian Sailing CEO Malcolm Page on Tuesday 23 June.

I look forward to your input, thank you for your time.

Kind regards,

Emily Jones

President - Yachting WA
