Depending on progression of participants the camp may include a race experience on Sunday the 20th February

Details below are for you to decide whether registration is for you, and once participants are confirmed, more information will be sent out in the lead up to the launch camp.

What is The SA Kitefoil Launch Camp?

A 2 day camp, designed to give Kiters and kitefoilers a world class training environment in South Australia.

Who are the coaches?

Matt Stringer – Ride Kite Surfing – Head Coach

The focus of the clinic will be on:

  • Basics of progression, the language of foiling and sustainable performance
  • Learning the fundamentals of performance foiling and how to play the game better
  • Board Handling and motion physics in action
  • Develop frameworks for racing and enhance your training quality to reach goals

What does it include?

  • Classroom and on water based sessions to cover theory, practice and simulations
  • Sessions start from 1200 until 1700 hrs*

*The weather doesn’t always play ball, so more information on times and timing will be communicated with the group as needed/and availability of participants at the scheduled times

Who is this clinic best suited to?

  • If you can already kiteboard or you have already mastered basic Kitefoil skills
  • Keen to progress with an interest in racing
  • Ideally, you can waterstart on a non-foil or foilboard, ride comfortably back and forth off the foil (both stances) holding your own ground upwind.

If you are unsure if you reach the minimum level to participate in this Launch Camp or have any questions relating to suitable equipment please get in touch with Matt Stringer to discuss your progression >>> mattwindsup@icloud.com / 0417 858 641

For all other enquires please contact Ian Leeson >>> ian.leeson@sailing.org.au / 0449 757 428

But what If I don’t meet these requirements, yet?

It is highly recommended you go through a Kiteboarding Australia Kite school to get a lesson on how to kiteboard before before you start this discipline. The process of learning the basics of kiteboarding does require one on one coaching and care to ensure you safely progress effectively and efficiently. The kiteschool will supply you with gear tailored to your learning experience, that will vastly improve your learning experience, and getting you to a level of independence relatively quickly. You can find contact details and further information on learning to kite through Ride KiteSurfing here
