The 2021 She Sails Inclusive Leadership event will focus on equipping women with the confidence and skills to navigate the hierarchy of their sailing clubs, providing strategies to deal with unconscious bias and create a more inclusive culture. The workshop will be highly interactive and will give participants the opportunity to:

  1. Explore why inclusion is important, what the benefits and challenges are.
  2. Gain awareness of conscious and unconscious thinking processes and understand how and when conscious and unconscious thinking impacts on how we evaluate, assess, interact, think, make decisions and work with other people. Understand and be aware of what unconscious bias is, how it is developed and become familiar with ways of personally identifying, addressing and reducing the impact of bias.
  3. Understand the key obstacles to inclusion that make inclusion challenging: the impact of unconscious thinking dynamics, assumptions, and stereotypes on judgement and decision-making.
  4. Experience examples and illustrations of key unconscious dynamics using examples from club and everyday life.
  5. Learn a practical playbook of strategies and skills to mitigate the impact of unconscious dynamics, make more robust decisions, and develop a more inclusive leadership style.
  6. Identify tangible strategies to reduce the likelihood of bias through policies and practices. Learn how to encourage and create a more inclusive culture.

The workshop will be led by Wendy Hanrahan a highly respected and accomplished senior executive with over 20 years’ experience across both private and public sector organisations. She brings a commercial and practical approach to working with leaders and senior teams, empowering them to achieve their best through and with their people
