Why learn to sail a dinghy?

Dinghies are an ideal way to learn and develop your sailing skills.

They're responsive, exciting and give you a direct connection with the wind, water and boat. You'll learn by doing — developing practical skills, confidence and decision-making every time you get on the water.

Dinghy sailing can be enjoyed recreationally, socially or competitively, with opportunities to continue sailing at your local club, join a racing fleet or progress into further coaching and competition.

Learn with Australian Sailing

Australian Sailing Dinghy courses are delivered by qualified Australian Sailing Dinghy Instructors and Assistant Instructors at accredited Discover Sailing Centres.

Our instructors are trained to create safe, supportive and engaging learning environments, helping participants develop both practical sailing skills and the knowledge to enjoy the sport.

Keep sailing

Completing a course is only the beginning.

Once you've developed your skills, there are plenty of ways to keep sailing — from joining your local sailing club and sailing socially, through to club racing, regattas and further coaching.

Your next adventure starts on the water.
