Three Sleeps Until Hamilton Island Race Week

In just three sleeps, the Oatley family will throw open the doors to Hamilton Island Yacht Club at Saturday night’s official welcome party for Hamilton Island Race Week, the 36th edition of the annual sailing series in the Whitsundays that has drawn 224 starters.

Q4 Participation report

Australian Sailing's Q4 participation report is out. Congratulations to all centres on their program delivery this quarter and the centres leading the way. Notably this quarter there’s been a good increase in people attaining Instructor, Coach and Officiating qualifications, we wish the workforce well in their roles in supporting new sailors and club members in the season ahead.

Following an hour’s delay in racing at Airlie Beach Race Week (ABRW) today as officials waited for the breeze to fill in, Ray Roberts and his Team Hollywood (NSW) added a further win to their Day 1 victory to take command of IRC/ORC Division 1 of the Whitsunday Sailing Club’s 34th regatta.

Airlie Beach Race Week: Wind gods make call - racing abandoned

On Day 2 of Airlie Beach Race Week (ABRW), competitors in the record fleet of 178 boats were initially held ashore, as organisers Whitsunday Sailing Club (WSC) monitored a very light and variable breeze, but eventually all headed out to Pioneer Bay and waited and waited until there was no choice but to abandon racing for the day at around 1pm.
